sometimes I get lost in the reflections at the port, I daydream, I imagine an invisible city under the sea, a secret world, a mysterious utopia
unreachable
Welcome everyone, this is a selection of my personal black and white analog photography journal in Greece.
My photo journal began when I arrived in January 2020 in Thessaloniki and it will end in July. If you click on the photos, you will be able to read further details about the pictures.
I studied analog photography for one year in Fine Arts school. I fell in love with the whole process, especially to get lost in the dark room for hours. Taking photos helps me to connect with people in a different way than with words. It gives me the opportunity to remember better special moments, important places, specific thoughts from this intense experience. Doing an analog photography journal in Greece is very spontaneous for me. Traveling and being in new places inspires me a lot. It feeds my desire to create. I want to transform what I see and feel into artistic materials. It is a way to keep my memories alive which I believe is very precious and essential.
Usually I am more into movement. I am making and editing videos, which is my favorite way to express and share my emotions, ideas. Since I was very young, I started experimenting to create in a poetic and sensitive way through video, creative writings, photography, sounds…
Last week I learned that I was accepted in a cinema documentary school in France (Angoulême) for a master degree. It gives me hope to continue following my dream, which is to become an artist/director. And you, what is your dream? By the way, if you are curious, I am preparing a video of our daily life in this volunteering Erasmus program, which should be ready by next month.
the rooftop of the house is the first place I felt home. I come there when I want to contemplate the swallows gliding in the sky. I come there when I want to sing alone in the sunset light. I come there when I have questions without answers.
before spring we went to a mountain next to Thessaloniki called Hortiatis
We first had a long walk in the forest where we met an old farmer with his hole family (13 kids)
then, we arrived on the top and we saw this amazing view of the sea.
the 5 of us decided to stop to talk and meditate for one minute of silence, to contemplate this beauty , finally we were quiet for 30 minutes and it felt very special and crucial moment of my 6months experience.
this photography is a double exposure

Thessaloniki has this terrible and huge street called “Egnatia”, we call it “the hell” with Laura. It is invaded by cars which make it very agressive and oppressive.
but everyday, when I meet these dogs on my road to go to work, I find few seconds of softness…
in February, one of the first weekend I arrived, we went to an abandoned train station.
these trains were not travelling anymore, the nature took back her rights and we were jumping from wagon to wagon, laying down on the rails. I think a special energy mostly made of freedom emanate from deserted places.

this was the day I arrived in Nea Souli, next to Serres, one hour or two from Thessaloniki
before lockdown, the 21 of March, I received a call from my friend Kostas. He told me that I should take a car with his friend before midnight to escape from the city. We went to spend some days of this quarantine in nature, in the empty house of his grandma. I just took with me my Tzouras, my books and cameras.
the mountain had snow when I arrived
when we left it was green vivid
