“At a time of turbulence, radio provides an enduring platform to bring communities together. On the way to work, in our homes, offices and fields, in times of peace, conflict and emergencies, radio remains a crucial source of information and knowledge.”
-Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO
It has been 6 years that the 13rd of February is a special day for all the peoples who like doing radio all over the world. It’s like the valentine’s day for radio speakers, we are talking about the World Radio Day ! For this occasion, 5 volunteers from USB (Rino and Carmen from Italy, Virginie from Germany, Alexander from Portugal and Jonathan -me – from France) have made a trip to Serres in order to participate to an 8-hours long radio broadcast organized by Praxis, a non-governmental organization created for getting youth evolved with cultural issues. (Here the web site http://praxisgreece.com/)
The Praxis volunteers (Jonatan, Nicholas, Charlotte, Jule, Teresa, Anni, Jan from Germany and Pauline from France) have talked about the history of radio, science-fiction and they even host a class of children. At 3 pm, USB volunteers took the mic to speak about science, worldwide music, philosophy and pirates’ radio, all this accompanied with some good music. So we shall thank Praxis for letting us being part of this event, and also Rodon 95FM, who let us celebrate on their frequency.
