A visit to the Thessaloniki Art fair

On the 23rd of May, I had the pleasure of visiting the 7th International Contemporary Art Fair in Thessaloniki. This event serves as both an exhibition and a showcase platform for galleries from around the world. Held at the TIF HELEXPO the fair provides a nice cultural experience for attendees. In addition to the galleries, there are also readings and concerts. Admission is reasonably priced at 5 euros for students and 9 euros for the general public. The fair is organized by Pantelis Tsatsis, who has successfully curated an event that attracts art lovers, collectors, and professionals alike.

My Experience at the Art Fair

If you have an interest in art, I highly recommend attending the Thessaloniki Art Fair, which takes place annually. The event is extensive, with a diverse array of artworks on display. Galleries from cities such as Skopje, Athens, and Sofia, among others, present their current collections, offering a fascinating glimpse into contemporary art scenes from different regions.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the fair is the opportunity for networking and interaction. The gallery owners and artists are very approachable and eager to discuss their work, even with young visitors and students who might not be in a position to make a purchase. This openness fosters a welcoming atmosphere where art appreciation and education

During my visit, I had an engaging conversation with the owner of the El Greko Art Gallery from Skopje and I also spoke with one of the curators from Jan Kath, a renowned gallery based in Düsseldorf, Germany. They are known for their high quality, handcrafted rugs, they are combining traditional rug weaving techniques with modern, avantgarde designs. The curator explained me a lot of the process, the technique and the creation of their Artworks. His works are characterized by innovative patterns, vibrant colors that blend both traditional and contemporary elements.

In conclusion, the Thessaloniki Art Fair is more than just a marketplace for art. Whether you are an art enthusiast, a collector, or simply curious, the fair offers something valuable for everyone. Don’t miss the chance to experience this event in Thessaloniki.
