The Streets of the Bell 2024 festival will happen in Thessaloniki from February 23 to March 3, with a big parade on Sunday, March 3. It’s the 6th European Ringing Festival with events for everyone. The highlight is a parade starting at the White Tower and ending Aristoteles Square.
The theme, The Streets of the Bell, revolves around ancient practices aimed at dispelling evil through teamwork, cooperation and solidarity. Ancient communities, fearing unpredictability threatening their harvest and community, devised Good Year passage ceremonies, believing that the sound of bells had the power to awaken the benevolent forces of nature.
