Greece is living one of the toughest lockdown situations across Europe. Since the 3rd of November 2020, the country is living its second round of restrictions, since the infections after summer started to rise.
The food service is one of the most affected sectors, with dozens of bars and tavernas closing their businesses in the second largest city of the country, Thessaloniki. By the publication of this video, on 18th of February 2021, owners still have no sign of opening back, and the night-time curfew is still on from 21:00h.
This report aims to show the struggles of these businesses, how they are coping with this situation, but also recaps the main measures taken by the Greek Government to keep one of the biggest pillars of the economy alive.
This video is directed and produced by Àlex Sánchez Aragón, a Spanish journalist living in Thessaloniki.
